Mid-July

July Part Two: Electric Boogaloo

Hi! Just wanted to drop in with a few more streaming sci-fi (and sci-fi adjacent, of course) options I found for July. In case you missed it a couple of weeks ago, there are plenty more suggestions in the previous issue of Subspace.

On Tubi...

Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films (2014) — https://tubitv.com/movies/100022414/electric-boogaloo — I’m looking forward to checking out this documentary about Cannon Films, a company that cranked out a whole bunch of exploitation and genre movies in the 1980s.

On YouTube...

Clash of the Titans (1981) — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVdVlYUsRpA — Stop-motion animation master Ray Harryhausen basically remade his own Jason and the Argonauts with Clash of the Titans. Which is totally cool, because Harryhausen’s creature work here (especially his snake-headed Medusa) is incredible.

Ghost in the Shell (1996) — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHil4Y4r3Wk

On Pluto TV...

Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) — https://pluto.tv/us/on-demand/movies/5d56fdbee3ec98f88655d4ef/details — I caught this indie sci-fi movie when it was making the film fest rounds. It’s weird and creepy and also has a lot of style.

If you like Subspace, please encourage your friends to subscribe! New readers are always welcome! Have a great rest-of-July, and I’ll be back in August with more movies.
